bio

Esther Choi (b. Queens, NY) is a Korean-American artist based in Portland, OR. Her handbuilt forms draw from a deep appreciation for everyday rituals, domestic textures, and the emotional charge of ordinary objects. Influenced by her Korean-American upbringing and the sensory density of city life, Choi’s work explores how memory, identity, and culture are embedded in what we use and keep.

Before working in clay, she spent nearly a decade in the tech industry, where she developed a strong foundation in systems thinking and iterative problem-solving approach that now informs her practice through repetition, experimentation, and attention to detail.
